Waiting Waiting

We watch anxiously as she applied the gel,
Waiting in this slow hell.
I shake off the cold feeling,
The sensation sending my mind reeling.

Finally the device made contact,
While I consider a simple fact.
We wanted a little girl,
To change our world.

"Mrs. ----," she said,
Anxious thoughts filling my head.
"Congratulations, it's a boy."
I was filled with joy.
The best I'd felt my entire life,
And I got to share it with my wife.

Up in his mansion, alone he weeps,
For the true love he seeks.
Taken away, by a spirit who keeps,
Fair maidens like his for weeks and weeks.

The man on the mountain offers his sword,
Promising to slay the spirit, he vows to find his ward.

He wanders far, he wanders wide.
Wondering where a spirit might hide,
He would've known, had the woman been so kind.
But it seemed she was out of her mind.

At last he found him,
Bound him and gagged him,
And sliced off his crown.

He found the maiden asleep,
It was a sight to make him weep.

The man on the mountain,
Lays alone by his fountain,
His maiden never to retur
